Zenseact welcomed international students on exclusive visit

Zenseact, who develops software for self-driving cars, shared both career advice and unique insights into their work to the international students. The company visit is arranged to offer the participants a rare chance to learn more about the industry and to expand their professional network.

40 international students were on March 4 visiting Zenseact, a Swedish company that develops technology for self-driving cars and advanced driver assistance systems. The company is owned by Volvo Cars and has a focus on the usage of AI and software to decrease traffic accidents. The students that participated are studying software technology, automation, data science or similar, and were very interested.

The visit consisted of multiple presentations and networking possibilities. Gabriel Rodrigues de Campos, Technical Expert Research & Collaboration, talked about the technology Zenseact uses and how it is applied, something that generated wide engagement. He and Aron Varghaei, Data Engineer & Analytics, shared their journeys from their respective home countries to being employed in Sweden. Rahell Rada, Senior Talent Acquisition Partner & Student Relations Manager, finished off the presentations with giving valuable and real advice about the Swedish job market and how to succeed within the tech industry. She also described Zenseact’s recruitment process and the different types of employments that are on offer within the company.

The finishing moment of the visit was an exclusive insight into Zenseact’s highly technological lab. The students could walk around and check out the real software and gain an even deeper understanding of how Zenseact works.

Ian Macleod studies the master’s program Complex Adaptive Systems at Chalmers, and thought the visit was very interesting. He had previous knowledge of Zenseact, and came along with Unimeet to learn more:

– I wanted to see the facility myself and get to talk to a few more people to see what their feelings toward the company were, and it was a good opportunity.

He thinks these company visits are highly rewarding, since students get the chanse to network and with the employees and learn more about the companies’ specific technologies.

– A lot of times, if you talk to specific people, they can give you some valuable insights. I got to ask about tuning as well as how vehicle communication works, and so it was nice to get some information about what they think the future of autonomous vehicles is.

Unimeet Gothenburg’s ambition in organizing company visits for international students is to, together with the companies and employers in the Gothenburg region, showcase the city as an attractive workplace and attract future international talents to stay in Gothenburg after completing their studies.

Unimeet Gothenburg is a collaboration between the University of Gothenburg, Chalmers University of Technology, and The Trade & Industry Group at Göteborg & Co, aimed at strengthening the exchange between the universities’ international students and the business community, creating cultural and social meeting places, as well as networking opportunities.
