International students take a step toward the Swedish job market

During a five-week period, 280 international students, PhD students and researchers participated in Unimeet Gothenburg’s exclusive program, Career Development Bootcamp. A digital program designed to guide the participants with the Swedish job market, CV writing and career goals.

Between February 27 and March 27, 280 international students, PhD students and researchers took part of Career Development Bootcamp, which contained webinars, individual support, discussion forums and practical missions to help them into the Swedish labor market. The participants had, before starting, identified career related challenges they had experienced and wanted help with, and these questions were addressed continuously throughout the program’s endurance. Among other things, they got a handbook in which they could work and reflect in, CV development, and learnt about the value of networking in the Swedish job market.

The student Chamodi Nayanathara is soon graduating, and thinks the program has been incredibly valuable:

The Bootcamp was an eye-opening experience. The structured content, interactive format, program handbook, missions and supportive environment made it engaging and practical. I gained valuable insights into networking, refining my CV, LinkedIn profile and approaching job applications with confidence. In fact, I recently approached a mentor from my field, and we are scheduled to meet soon, something I wouldn’t have done before.

Aithra Samara-Pitseli, another participant, agrees:

”For any international student considering a career in Sweden, this bootcamp is an invaluable resource.”

Unimeet Gothenburg is a collaboration between the University of Gothenburg, Chalmers University of Technology, and The Trade & Industry Group at Göteborg & Co, aimed at strengthening the exchange between the universities’ international students and the business community, creating cultural and social meeting places, as well as networking opportunities.
