International students on a visit to Hubbau

On November 27, international students from Chalmers and University of Gothenburg visited Hubbau – a company that works with talent programs for newly graduated engineers. The visit contained hands-on advice for the newly graduated, insight in how the company operates and networking. The company visit is arranged to offer the participants a rare chance to learn more about the industry and to expand their professional network.

Around 30 students participated on the visit to Hubbau, a company that specifically works with newly graduated engineers in tailor-made talent programs. The students, mostly within IT, Mechatronics and Software Engineering & Management, got to visit Vinngroup’s offices where Hubbau has its business.

Jesper Kemme, COO, started the visit with a presentation about Hubbau. He told the participants about Vinngroup which Hubbau is a part of, and how they more specifically work with their talent programs – everything from recruitment to how a year could look. He continued to give hands-on CV advice, and how to actually perform on a job interview. Olivia Nordblad, Talent Acquisition & Marketing Coordinator, also gave advice on the CV process. After, she spoke about personal branding and how students, as newly graduated and then active in the work field, can use LinkedIn to their advantage.

Bala Naga Barath Chinni, who participated in Hubbau’s talent program 24/25, finished the presentation with telling the students about what is was like being in the program, and about his experiences from being an international student to someone in the workforce as an employee at Volvo Group. After this, the participants got the chance to mingle with each other, Bala, Olivia and Jesper, to expand their network and ask questions.

Among the participants was Akib an Noor, who is studying the master’s program in Software Engineering & Management at the University of Gothenburg. When Unimeet asks him about what he thought of the company visit, he was very positive:

– I liked the fact that the information was very focused on the beginners who will actually join the industry in a year or in a couple of years from now. The content was also very good because it was straight to the point.

When Akib gets the question if he would be interested in the talent program Hubbau offers, he smiles. Absolutely, he says:

– I’d be interested to join the talent program, yes. And as I have already some working experience, I would like to grab the opportunity to join the talent program if I get the opportunity.

Unimeet Gothenburg’s ambition in organizing company visits for international students is to, together with the companies and employers in the Gothenburg region, showcase the city as an attractive workplace and attract future international talents to stay in Gothenburg after completing their studies.

Unimeet Gothenburg is a collaboration between the University of Gothenburg, Chalmers University of Technology, and The Trade & Industry Group at Göteborg & Co, aimed at strengthening the exchange between the universities’ international students and the business community, creating cultural and social meeting places, as well as networking opportunities.
